Fundraising at Korematsu
To continue providing our children with an excellent, well-rounded education, we rely on your support.
The state of California ranks as one of the lowest in the nation in per student spending. Annually, our Korematsu PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) spends $60,000 to support our teachers and students to fill those gaps in funding. We are asking each Korematsu family to donate $200 to help us reach our $60,000 goal for the Back-To-School Donation Drive.
Back-To-School Donation Drive

The Back-To-School Donation Drive (BSDD) is our first fundraiser of the year (formerly the “Unfundraiser”). Our goal is to raise half of the 2018-2019 PTO budget.
Our goal is 100% participation across Korematsu families. We recognize that $200 per family might not be feasible for everyone. We encourage you to contribute at ANY level. Every dollar gets us closer to our budget goal.
- Families that donate the suggested amount ($200 or more), will receive a Korematsu canvas tote bag (while supplies last)
How is my donation used?
Your donation goes straight to the classroom! KPTO funds student and teacher enrichment that is critical in maintaining the quality of education we want for our children, and subsidizes many staff members’ salaries.

- Music Instructor (part-time)
- Art Instructor (part-time) – fully funded by KPTO
- Reading para educator’s
- Art enrichment (Drama, music, etc.)

Do I need to donate by September 30?
The reason we ask for donations early in the year is so we know how much more fundraising activities we will need to do throughout the year to reach our $60,000 operating budget. But if donating before September 30 does not work with your family’s budget you still have options. Your donations will be accepted any time and will still help support our school. We can also arrange installment plans if that works better for your budget (via pay pal, or how you choose).
How can I donate?
We accepts checks or PayPal and suggest $200 donation per family. A donation at any amount is appreciated!
Is there a preferred method of payment?
Yes! If you have the option, we prefer checks since we pay a 2.9% fee to PayPal for credit card processing. Those fees ad up and we are happy to pay them to make it more convenient for parents. But if you have the option, checks are always preferred.
Do you do employer matching?
Absolutely yes! Please check with your employer to see if they will match your donation to Korematsu. It only takes a few minutes and it DOUBLES your impact! Our tax ID information is on the donation form (PDF).
The PayPal link does not seem to work on the website.
If you would like to use PayPal and have issues with the link on the Korematsu website just go directly to PayPal.com and click on the send money link. You can send money directly to email@example.com. Please make a note when you send the money and let us know it’s for the Back to School Donation Drive, your child(ren)’s name, and then drop your form in the office.
